Industry Day

The Industry Day took place in TILab’s premises on May, the 20th, 2008. It was organized by TILab, with the collaboration of all the VISNET II partners. The event brought together people coming from industries, solution providers, integrators that work in the field of the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) and VISNET II researchers, for exploring possible future directions of new technologies being developed inside the project from the perspective of industrial applications. more

Networked Media Task Force

VISNET II NoE played a major role in establishing an academic group named Networked Media Task Force (NM-TF) in a joint collaboration effort with two other NoEs in the Networked Media area, namely INTERMEDIA and CONTENT. This group organised two brainstorming workshops to help provide a focused academic vision for the EC FP7 programme beyond 2009 with invited key researchers internationally known in the area of Networked Media systems. As a result of these workshops, a vision document, entitled "Networked Media of the Future", has been produced, which provides a guide for the academic vision and will be complimentary to the mainly industrial based Networked and Electronic Media (NEM) Technology Platform.

Picture Coding Symposium (PCS 2007)

"Instituto Superior Técnico" (a VISNET II partner) organized the 26th Picture Coding Symposium (PCS'2007) , next 7-9 November 2007, in Lisbon. The Picture Coding Symposium (PCS) is an international forum devoted specifically to advancements in visual data coding. Since 1969, PCS has provided the meeting place for the visual coding community: industry, research, academia and users.

Virtual Mirror

The Virtual Mirror enhances the visualization of customized consumer articles. Instead of viewing yourself in a real mirror, highly sophisticated 3D image processing techniques are used to verify the appearance of new models. A camera captures the real world and outputs the mirrored images onto a large display which replaces a real mirror. The 3D motion is tracked in real-time and computer graphics models of the consumer articles are augmented into the video such that the person seems to wear the virtual objects.
